The survey will be reported at the FIDIC 2006 Conference, Budapest, 24-27 September 2006.

FIDIC is in the process of updating its Client/Consultant Model Service Agreement (the “White Book”) from the 3rd to 4th Editions. As part of this process, FIDIC is comparing key elements of client-consultant agreements published by various Member Associations. Some of this information is being used by drafting teams working with governments to establish national White Books. FIDIC cannot underestimate the importance of this work since client-consultant agreements are key documents for the industry.

FIDIC aims to complement the available information with the results of a survey. Drafting teams asked that the survey form given below be sent to selected Member Associations for an immediate response because the countries concerned were the most relevant for the drafting work. The results of this preliminary survey indicated some interesting trends.

Given these trends and the need for a comprehensive overview, FIDIC is now surveying all Member Associations. The survey form for this full survey includes a question on third-party liability that was omitted from the preliminary survey. Member Associations have been asked to return the completed questionnaire to FIDIC (fidic@fidic.org; fax: +41 22 799 49 01) by 10 August 2006.
