Sustainable development - A challenge for the engineering profession

The FIDIC 1990 Annual Conference in Oslo, Norway  (17 - 21 June 1999) focused on sustainable development.

The main presentations and workshop reports that addressed the conference theme are listed below in order to demonstrate FIDIC's long-standing commitment to sustainability.

• International financing institutions: Synopsis of Forum presentation by Ken Piddington, Director of Environment, World Bank.
• Responding to the challenge: Synopsis of Forum presentation by Don V. Roberts, Vice President, CH2M HILL, USA.
• Workshops: reports of a series of workshops organized by the FIDIC Task Committee on the Environment.
• Conclusions: by Knut Ekeberg, chairman of the FIDIC 1990 Organizing Committee.
