FIDIC DBO Contract Seminar
Chateau Frontenac, Quebec; Thursday, 11 September 2008; 09.00 - 17.00
In association with the FIDIC 2008 Quebec Conference
See www.fidic.org/dbo for details of the new contract, published as a Prepress Seminar Edition in September 2007 and as the 1st Edition in September 2008 (electronic version released in August 2008 Information.)

Information
The design-build-operate DBO approach to contracting combines design, construction and long-term operation and maintenance of a facility into one single contract awarded to a single contractor (who will usually be a joint venture or consortium representing all the skills called for in a DBO arrangement).

The format of a DBO arrangement can be based on either a "green-field" scenario (D-B-O), or on a "brown-field" scenario (O-D-B). Either is quite common. However, the contractual requirements and procedures are quite different.

FIDIC has chosen to produce a contract for DBO projects based on the DBO green-field scenario, with a Guide containing guidelines on the changes necessary to cover a brown-field arrangement.

The FIDIC DBO Contract Seminar at the FIDIC 2008 Quebec Conference will provide consultants and clients with in-depth knowledge of the new document and on how to use it in their organisations.

It is planned to base discussions on the 1st Edition of the new FIDIC Conditions of Contract for DBO Projects which will be published at the conference. The electronic version of the DBO Contract 1st Edition 2008 was released in August 2008 Information.

Presentations are made by internationally-recognised industry leaders.
