FIDIC List of Dispute Adjudicators FIDIC.org/dab Announcement of DAB Training Programme FIDIC's New Contract Documents and New List of Dispute Adjudicators 14 October 1999 TO ALL FIDIC MEMBER ASSOCIATIONS Ladies and Gentlemen, FIDIC now has available its new suite of Conditions of Contract, informally titled, The Construction Contract, The Plant and Design-Build Contract, The EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) Contract and The Short Form. Please visit FIDIC's web site (www.fidic.org) for details on these "New Books"). The New Books all call for the use of Dispute Adjudication Boards (DAB's) to help resolve disputes. FIDIC's Executive Committee has decided that FIDIC should back this modern and efficient dispute resolution method, by gradually phasing out its current List of Arbitrators and List of Experts, and replacing them with a List of Dispute Adjudicators that can be quality assured by FIDIC. Thus, under the auspices of the Contracts Committee, an Assessment Panel for Adjudicators has been appointed, headed by Peter L. Booen (Contracts Committee Member and Principal Drafter of the new "Major" Contracts), Gordon L. Jaynes and Igor V. Leto. This panel will have the responsibility of assessing all applicants to FIDIC's (new) List of Adjudicators, to decide on their admission or rejection. As of now, FIDIC will cease accepting applications for FIDIC's current two Lists (Arbitrators and Experts), and now invites applications for admission to the FIDIC List of Dispute Adjudicators. For persons already listed on FIDIC's current Lists of Arbitrators and Experts, special consideration will be given by the Assessment Panel. Enclosed is information about Admission to the FIDIC List of Dispute Adjudicators, with the Application Procedure and a model Letter of Application (for training and/or listing). FIDIC will be providing Training and Assessment for those Applicants who are assessed as not fulfilling the experience or alternative training criteria necessary for direct entry on the List. Please inform your membership about this new initiative of FIDIC.
