Introduction  
 
The Prepress Seminar Edition of the FIDIC® Conditions of Contract for Design,  Build and Operate - the so-called FIDIC Design-Build-Operate Contract or simply the FIDIC DBO Contract - was published  on 13 September  2007 at the DBO Seminar that took place at the FIDIC 2007 Singapore Conference. See product description.
 
This prepress Seminar Edition  contains the complete General Conditions and the form Part A  Contract Data of the Particular Conditions, but not Part B Special Provisions - Notes for Guidance. There are also no Sample Forms (although there is a list of the sample forms that will be available in the final First Edition.

 The Edition is published for comment: it is not intended for contract use, and users incorporating the Conditions of Contract in their own documentation do so at their own risk.

For a FIDIC contract, incorporation is either by reference, by including the printed publication or by printing out the General Conditions from an authorised electronic version of the contract purchased from the FIDIC Bookshop (see Terms of Use PDF).

Distribution and downloads
 
FIDIC publishes the fully formatted Prepress Edition of the DBO Contact in both printed and electronic (PDF) versions. They are available from the FIDIC Bookshop (price Euro 20). Printed orders: Add to Order; Electronic  Add to Order
 
If a user wishes to ensure that another user obtains an authentic and accurate electronic version of the General Conditions of the contract, the user should purchase the electronic version of the full Conditions of Contract from the FIDIC Bookshop. These will be encrypted for highly secure access protection. The archive containing these access-protected General Conditions can then be sent to the other user Information and purchase.
 
Seminars
  • Launch Seminars
    A programme of FIDIC DBO Seminars to launch the new DBO Contract has been organized. The first was planned to coincide with the release of the contract at the FIDIC 2007 Singapore Conference (see programme). Information and registration for other launch seminars is available from FIDIC. org/events.
  • Briefing Seminars
    Wherever possible, FIDIC will organize Briefing Seminars to brief specialists on the new DBO Contract. The first Briefing Seminar was held in London on 11 October 2007. The second Briefing Seminar will be held in Copenhagen on 1 February 2008. Briefing Seminar materials are available:

    The FIDIC Contracts and Agreements Collection comprises a collection of all of FIDIC contracts and agreements and their accompanying guides. Collections are available in  printed  (a collection of documents) and electronic editions. These electronic editions of Collections have various prices depending on user access, and they include the new FIDIC DBO Contract.

Translations
 
FIDIC arranges for translations of all its documents. In the case of the new DBO Contract, FIDIC will approach the publishers of translations of its existing documents before seeking additional publishers of translations. This will only happen once the final First Edition is published in 2008. FIDIC may however agree to a temporary translation of the Prepress Edition if it is for information and training purposes.
